About
I'm Pete. I've lived in Cozumel since 2018. For most of that time I didn't dive. Almost everyone around me did, and the island is on every serious diver's bucket list, but I kept finding reasons not to. In May 2026 I finally booked a Discover Scuba program at a local shop. Three dives over two days. My body tolerated it, I genuinely enjoyed it, and that night I wanted to go back down. I'm now working toward Open Water certification.
I started writing this site because the diving content I could find online about Cozumel was almost all written by people selling something. Dive shops selling their own trips. Travel bloggers selling affiliate links to whoever pays them. Nothing that felt like someone just telling me what their first dive actually felt like, what they wished they'd known, or which shop they'd book again. So I'm writing what I wish I'd found.
The articles describe what I actually did, what I wondered about, what was real, and what wasn't. When I name a shop, it's because the experience can be useful to you, not because they paid for the mention. No operator pays for placement here, and that's the rule whether or not DripDive ever runs its own dives.
Current state, honestly: working through Open Water certification. 3 logged dives as of May 17, 2026 (Discover Scuba Extended at Cozumel Dive School, 1 shore + 2 boat dives, max depth 12m). I'll update this as the cert path progresses and the dive count grows.
